Updates

Today I am sending home your child's math quiz along with their spelling tests.  Please sign and review with your child.  All the questions on the math quiz have been taken directly from previous EQAO tests.  There will be another quiz on Friday of this week.  It will be similar, so please use this time to help your child if they experienced difficulty on this quiz.  More value is placed on the the unit test which will be later next week.  I usually give little quizzes as a check in so that we all know how to help your child progress.

Picture Day is on Wed. Sept. 27th

Reminders...

Please send in Terry Fox permission forms and pledge forms as our walk is on Friday.

Homework books are due on Thursday.

Spelling Test on Friday - have your child study and learn to spell as many as they can.

Scholastic sent home tonight.  I have signed up so that you can pay for your orders online. I am hoping that you know how to do this as I certainly don't.  Let me know if you need any information from me (account number or whatever).

If you have not already done so, please sign up for the Seesaw app using the paper I gave you on meet the teacher night.  Your children are sending you video messages and some of the students are upset that their parents haven't signed up yet.

Prodigy Accounts

I have sent home a paper today with your child's prodigy user name and password.  If they could remember their login information from last year, I managed to figure out how to add them to my current class so that they did not lose their points from last year.  It was a little chaotic but I managed to get them all logged into a Chrome book and eventually playing the Prodigy game (math related).  I will begin selecting specific questions in the upcoming week.

Updates

The children are beginning to settle into routines well and we have had an enjoyable 6 days of school so far!  There has been a strong emphasis on learning to use self regulation strategies to cope with social and academic challenges.  I was amazed today when children began sharing strategies that they often use to cope with frustration and anger.  It's great to hear that they are already aware of so many! Hopefully your child will be talking to you about MINDSET in the upcoming weeks as we have also been spending time discussing how perspective plays an important role in success.  I asked the children today what they thought their parents would like them to work on this year.  A few of them said 'nothing' (I giggled).  I thought maybe it would be a great time of start discussing goals with your child.

Curriculum Night Wednesday at 6:30

I am looking forward to meeting you!

Allergies

I just wanted to share an update with you all.  I was informed that students in my class are permitted to bring in food items with sesame seeds, fish, eggs and pineapple.  We will continue to encourage you to check the food you are sending in to ensure it does not contain ANY nuts.

Have a wonderful weekend!
